In September 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) informed the Korea Cricket Association that they had been successful in their bid to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Sub-Regional Qualifier in September 2024.

The Qualifier Event took place at the Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon, South Korea, a stadium originally built for cricket at the 2014 Asian Games. This event saw four teams, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, compete in 12 matches across six match days, followed by a Women’s Asia tournament right after the men’s competition.

Hosting the ICC Qualifier Event in South Korea involved upgrading existing infrastructure as part of the event’s Legacy project, with a particular focus on turf and outfield management.

In partnership with the Korea Cricket Association, the ICC developed a 12-month program designed to have immediate benefits in South Korea and for neighbouring countries. Green by Nature was selected to be a consultant for the project, supporting through a comprehensive 4-step process that involved visits over the past year from our Contract Manager, Matthew Sommerville and his team.

In preparation for the tournament, Green by Nature further supported the ICC program by sending one of our team members to gain valuable turf consultancy and tournament experience. George Crowe, our Cricket Central Contract Coordinator, was chosen for this opportunity.

This project was an excellent opportunity for Green by Nature to strengthen our relationship with Cricket Australia and the ICC.
