Fairfield RSL

Project Overview

Fairfield RSL Club has become a highly-desired destination for locals and visitors in Western Sydney. Green by Nature has been tasked with managing this Balinese themed club. A dedicated maintenance plan consists of these core tasks; weeding, mowing, irrigation adjustments, debris blow downs, hand watering, daily cleaning of high profile areas. These tasks are undertaken in a variety of spaces including open carpark turf and softscape, an indoor smoking area with water features, a rooftop herb garden and apiary, a bamboo garden near a key water feature, Buffalo grass verges, green walls, and the therapeutic gardens of Oakdene House Foundation.

Challenges

Our dedicated maintenance team works around a series of challenges through their day to day tasks. This includes access restrictions in certain areas which limit machinery use, protecting mature trees and delicate garden features and working around hardscape elements of all different shapes and sizes such as the Oakdene house rehabilitation facility and the abundant water features.

Innovative Solutions

Green by Nature has extended our horticultural skills from the ground right to the club’s rooftop. Strategic planning and swift problem solving are key skills that our team use to maintain the landscape design and functionality. Precision and delicate care are key to maintaining a high quality and visually appealing site like Fairfield RSL. The team cleans water features, up-lighting, and decorative vases daily, while sensitive garden areas like the bamboo and herb gardens are protected with clear signage. Tailored seasonal care and rapid repair protocols across all types of gardens across the site to ensure no matter the challenge, our program upholds high standards.

Sustainability Initiatives

As with any project touched by Green by Nature, we ensure sustainability is at the forefront of our maintenance programs. At Fairfield RSL Club, we consider a holistic approach that supports long-term plant health, water efficiency, soil improvement, and environmentally conscious pest and weed control. Soil is renovated annually to enhance fertility, water retention and root development, while Cypress mulch is applied annually for its ability to be durable, weed suppressing, regulate soil temperature and conserve moisture. Water usage is carefully monitored with both automated irrigation and targeted hand watering techniques and pest and disease management follows a minimal intervention approach. Together, these initiatives reflect a site-wide commitment to sustainability – ensuring the landscape remains vibrant, functional, and environmentally responsible year-round.
