Apprentice Day at Parramatta Park

Green by Nature recently held our annual apprentice day that brought together apprentices from right across New South Wales out to Parramatta Park for our Apprentice Day.

With our apprentices working across different sites, teams and projects, the day provided an opportunity to step away from their usual workplaces and come together as one group. It was a chance to meet new people, learn from one another and gain a broader understanding of the opportunities available across Green by Nature.

The day began with a smoking ceremony, providing a meaningful way to come together on Country before moving into a program of practical workshops and activities. Throughout the day, apprentices took part in sessions covering key areas of their development, including safety and manual handling, working with electric machinery, a Parramatta Park site walkthrough and apprentice support. The hands-on sessions provided an opportunity to build knowledge while seeing different aspects of the industry in action.

Just as valuable were the conversations happening between sessions. Apprentices shared stories from their worksites, discussed the challenges they encounter in their day-to-day roles and exchanged advice based on their own experiences. A common theme throughout the day was the scale and diversity of Green by Nature. With teams working across hundreds of sites and a wide range of environments, it can be difficult to see the bigger picture when you’re focused on your own site. Bringing our apprentices together helped showcase the broader team they are part of and the many career pathways available within the business.

Days like these are an important part of supporting the next generation of our industry. By creating opportunities to connect, learn and share experiences, we can help our apprentices build the skills, knowledge and networks they need to grow their careers.
